On February 10th, ISANA Nascent, Himalia, and Achernar attended a musical at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. School Yard Rap presented The Black History Musical- Our Story, Experience History…Different. The Our Story was a Hip Hop musical dedicated to telling the stories of History not often heard in schools. It focused on history beyond slavery and segregation and covers the periods of pre-colonization to the 1930s. The show taught about various people and topics, including Mansa Musa, Queen Amina, Kandake, Buffalo Soldiers, 54 Massachusetts Infantry, Langston Hughes, Harlem Renaissance, Bass Reeves, and more.
